How is my sleeper sofa frame constructed?
The frame of the sofa itself is constructed with kiln dried hardwood. When you remove the seat cushions the folded mattress
is set inside a metal fold-out appararatus which easily pulls out to make a bed.
What type of mattress do I want for my sleeper sofa?
Most sleeper sofa mattresses are
innerspring mattresses.
Innerspring mattresses are made up primarily of coil springs which are held together by wire spirals and heavy wire. You can
tell the quality and firmness of a mattress based on how many coils the mattress has. A full sized mattress should have 300
coils while a queen sized mattress should have about 400 coils.
Insulator, which is a tough fiber padding, wire or netting, separates the coils from the cushioning. On top of the insulator
is some high density polyurethane foam, cotton felt or other padding materials. After the foam cushioning is the ticking, which
is the outermost fabric covering the mattress. Here at Sleepersofa.com, we have both
5" innerspring
and
7" innerspring mattresses.
We also carry sleeper sofas with
memory foam mattresses
which are made from visco-elastic polyurethane foam. When exposed to heat, memory foam softens to mould to the shape of your
body supporting your weight evenly.
What room will my sleeper be located in?
It is important to take into consideration the function you think your sleeper sofa will have in your home. Will it primarily
be a couch or a bed? If it is primarily a couch you will want to look for sofas with thick seat cushions and if it will be
primarily a bed you will want to look at the thicker innerspring mattresses. You will also want to think about the doorways
leading into the room where it will be. Are there any sharp turns leading up to the doorways and are the doorways wide enough
to fit your sleeper sofa? Keep these things in mind while shopping.
What size sleeper sofa is right for me?
When choosing a sleeper sofa size, you will want to think about the size of the room you want to put your sleeper in.
Will there be enough room to pull out the sleeper with ease? It might also be helpful to think about what size sheets you
already own. Typically a standard
single/twin sized mattress
is 39" × 75", a
double/full sized mattress
is 54" × 75" and a
queen sized mattress
is 60" × 80". We also offer
extra long mattresses
for some of our sleeper sofas which run about 5 inches longer than the standard sizes.
